🌐 STEC Armour G.657.A2 Fiber Optic Drone Reel
Product Introduction
STEC Armour G.657.A2 Fiber Optic Drone Reel is our branded, ready-to-integrate fiber optic cable spool for tactical drone and loitering-munition applications. Each reel is pre-wound with bend-insensitive single-mode fiber to ITU-T G.657.A2 standard on a compact plastic drum designed for high-speed pay-out inside a drone tether pod or munition dispenser.
Applied to fiber-guided FPV attack drones, loitering munitions, tethered ISR platforms, and covert surveillance systems — the fiber pays out from the stationary reel as the drone flies away, delivering a jam-proof, tap-proof, high-bandwidth video and control link that no RF-based system can match.

Why Fiber-Guided Drones?
- Jamming-immune — fiber cannot be electronically jammed like RF datalinks; no impact from EW systems
- Interception-resistant — fiber transmission emits no RF signature and cannot be picked up passively at distance
- No latency — light-speed transmission delivers real-time control with sub-millisecond delay
- High bandwidth — full HD or 4K video, sensor data, and control commands over one fiber
- Long range — effective control range limited only by reel length, not RF path loss
- Operational in contested EW environments — performs where RF drones fail
Typical Platforms
- FPV fiber-guided attack drones (Ukraine/Russia conflict-proven concept)
- Loitering munitions with fiber-optic guidance (FOG-M / FOTT class)
- Tethered ISR quadcopters and octocopters
- Covert surveillance drones for prolonged mission durations
- Underwater tethered ROVs
- Naval bomb-disposal robots
