Product Introduction
The 5.56 × 45 mm NATO is the standard rifle and light machine gun cartridge of NATO forces and dozens of allied nations. Introduced in 1980 as STANAG 4172, it succeeds the 7.62 × 51 mm NATO as the primary individual-weapon calibre for M16, M4, HK416, SCAR-L, and equivalent service rifles worldwide.
