The FN-16 is a modern generation man-portable air defence system (commonly called MANPADS) designed for use against ultra-low and low altitude aerial threats. It features infrared (IR) homing guidance (and some sources mention dual-IR/UV guidance) enabling it to track and engage targets such as helicopters, UAVs, cruise missiles, and low-flying fixed-wing aircraft.
